We have a busy week ahead. I know that life is busy outside of school as well. Please be sure that your child is turning in homework assignments on time. The warmer weather this week may have felt like summer time to some of the students. Be sure to remind them that school is still in session and we have lots to do and learn in the next few months to be ready to move onto 5th grade. Thank you for your support.
Dress up as a Texas Hero on Thursday for Texas Independence Day! It is also Sam Houston's birthday and Dr. Seuss's birthday. Most of the school will dress as a favorite literary character, but since fourth grade studies Texas history, we wanted to celebrate Texas Independence Day! Get out your cowboy/cowgirl gear, ya'll! Reading-Last week we took the Reading STAAR Ready test. We are working on summarizing and using context clues as well as making inferences, finding cause and effect, and drawing conclusions.
Writing-Expository writing is still our focus. Many students are either finished with their expository piece or are on their final copy. We will finish up early in the week, then we will work on writing descriptive paragraphs using strong word choice, metaphors, similes, and sensory language to create specific, clear images. We will work on revising our writing and using descriptive language to help make our supporting details stronger in our expository writing.
